Sudden Oak Death Treatments in Challenging Terrain: A Federal Forest Pathologist’s Perspective

Photo: The “thinned” area (photo center) is a 25-acre sudden oak death treatment polygon on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest where all tanoak were injected with herbicide and subsequently cut, piled, and burned. Approximately 9 acres of evergreen huckleberry, Pacific rhododendron, and Oregon myrtlewood (aka California bay laurel) were also cut, piled, and burned within the treatment area.
